Welcome to Fort Royal Hotel, a charming hotel located on the outskirts of Rathmullan Village and on the shores of Lough Swilly in beautiful County Donegal. The 15-bedroom country house hotel is owned and operated by the same family since opening its doors in 1948.
This wonderful country house hotel have has numerous improvements and renovations since opening but still retains the friendly and welcoming atmosphere and old world charm. It’s no surprise that visitors from all over the globe return year after year since the property is situated on 18 acres of mature gardens and walkways, one of which directly leads down to the beach.

Room Information

The guestrooms in the hotel are spacious and tastefully decorated. Each of the bedrooms has full en-suite facilities and because of the position of the property, most of them have fantastic sea views.
Facilities in the room consist of TV, telephone and hair dryer. Three of the rooms are classed as superior rooms as they are slightly more spacious than the standard guestrooms.

Food and Beverage

Dining is a pleasure at the RAC award wining restaurant in the Fort Royal Hotel. The menu is changed on a daily basis depending on the availability of local and fresh ingredients. Needless to say, fish is a speciality and if it’s simply cooked can be the main focus of the menu.

From Donegal Travel forward onto The Diamond, R267 and take a right sign posted Sligo N15. Keep to the left on the R267, sign posted Lifford, Letterkenny N15.When you come to the roundabout take the road sign posted Lifford on the N15. Drive on until you enter Stranorlar. Take a left hand turn onto Meeting House Street, signposted for Letterkenny – N13. At roundabout, continue to follow the signposts for Letterkenny, N14. Once in Letterkenny, take the third exit off the roundabout in the direction of Ramelton. Continue on the R245 until you get to Ramelton. Once you get to a T-junction, take a left onto the R245 then take a right sign posted for Rathmullan. Keep to your left until you reach Rathmullan. Fort Royal Hotel is approximately a quarter of a mile from Rathmullan.
